Falling Stars: CMS Delays Release of Star Ratings; Health System Finds Rating System Has Been Wrong

​The Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services (CMS) announced that it will not update its overall hospital star quality ratings in July, according to a June 12, 2018, news release from the American Hospital Association. CMS said it wanted "time for additional analysis of the impact of changes to some of the measures on the star ratings," the American Hospital Associated said. The association, which has raised questions regarding data in the CMS's star ratings preview report, said that CMS "made the right call."
