In a Company Announcement posted by FDA, Hospira states that the above glass syringe plungers may contain particles. Hospira also states that injection of particulate matter may lead to local irritation, allergic reactions, phlebitis, end-organ granuloma, tissue ischemia pulmonary emboli, pulmonary dysfunction, pulmonary infarction, and toxicity.
