​The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has released a free online training course for nurses and nurse managers that addresses the risks associated with shift work and long hours and provides strategies to reduce these risks. Developed in collaboration with various healthcare stakeholders, including nursing organizations and academic groups, NIOSH Training Program for Nurses on Shift Work and Long Work Hours is designed to increase knowledge and promote better personal behaviors and workplace systems to reduce the risks related to shift work, long work hours, and exposure to related issues from insufficient sleep.
