More Seniors Dying from Fall-Related Injuries, Says CDC

​The death rate from falls-related injuries among seniors age 65 or older rose by 31% from 2007 to 2016, according to a study released on May 11, 2018, by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). According to CDC, nearly 29,668 Americans age 65 or older died as a result of a fall in 2016, compared to 18,334 deaths in 2007, with the rate of falls increasing by an average of 3% per year during that time.
