The nation has achieved considerable improvement in its overall emergency preparedness and is led in this effort by public health and medical services, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) 2012 National Preparedness Report. Among 56 surveyed U.S. states and territories, 78% reported being capably prepared in the public health and medical services domain, the highest percentage of the 31 domains surveyed.
