Deadline Approaching for Reporting Healthcare Worker Vaccination Data to NHSN

Hospitals participating in the Inpatient Quality Reporting Program who wish to submit summary data on healthcare personnel flu vaccination to the National Health Safety Network (NHSN) for the 2012-2013 flu season must do so by the May 15, 2013, deadline, according to information about the data submission process posted on the NHSN website. To avoid a 2% reduction in Medicare inpatient payments for fiscal year 2015 and exclusion from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Value-Based Purchasing Program, participating hospitals must report summary data for healthcare personnel working in the hospital for at least 30 days between October 1, 2012, and March 31, 2013.
