Study: Most Cardiology Guidelines Are Not Adequately Supported by Evidence

​Less than 10% of recommendations from current American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association (ACC/AHA) guidelines have recommendations supported by multiple randomized controlled trials (RCTs), according to a March 19, 2019, study in JAMA. The authors analyzed clinical guideline documents published between 2008 and 2018 on cardiovascular society websites and compared them with immediate predecessor documents published between 1999 and 2014.
