Most Organizations Suffered a Cyberattack Last Year, But Rates Are Finally Declining
March 21, 2018 | Strategic Insights for Health System
For the first time in five years, the percentage of organizations that experienced a cybersecurity breach declined, according to CyberEdge's 2018 Cyberthreat Defense Report. The findings are based on a survey of 1,200 information technology (IT) professionals from 17 countries and 19 industries. While most respondents (77.2%) said their company had been affected by a successful cyberattack, the percentage declined from 79.2% in 2016. Around half (55%) of respondents experienced a ransomware attack in 2017, down from 61% in 2016. Nearly 39% of ransomware victims decided to pay the ransom; however, just 49.4% recovered their data after paying the ransom.
