Philips—EPIQ 7 Ultrasound Systems: May Yield Erroneous Doppler Velocities When Using High Pulse Repetition Frequency

In a February 28, 2014, Customer Information letter submitted by an ECRI Institute member hospital, Philips states that the systems below may report incorrect Doppler velocities if you use high pulse repetition frequency (HPRF) with multiple sample volume gates. Phillips also states that while in HPRF in "Display Zoom Velocity Scale" mode using manual spectral Doppler trace, the velocities in the velocity results table may be overstated by 25% to 75%, depending on the scale value. Philips further states that the displayed scale within the spectral Doppler trace and distance measurements in the spectral Doppler trace are not affected by this problem and are accurate.
