AHA Expresses Support for Good Samaritan Health Professional Act

The American Hospital Association has expressed its support for the Good Samaritan Health Professional Act (H.R. 3586) in a February 29, 2012, letter to Congressman Cliff Stearns (R-Florida). If passed, the act would extend to licensed, volunteer health professionals the same protective standards included in the Volunteer Protection Act of 1997—legislation that, according to AHA, takes important steps to help victims have access to critical on-site medical attention during declared federal disasters.
