​Risk managers and security directors may be interested in a February 12, 2016, article in the New York Times about a patient who was shot by security guards while seeking help for mental distress at a Texas hospital. The patient, who had come to the hospital for treatment of possible bipolar disorder, was shocked with a taser and shot with a gun in the chest by hospital security after he became uncooperative with nursing staff.
