“Rite of Passage” Bullying to Newly-Graduated Nurses Can Pose Risks for Occupational Health, Patient Safety

​Newly-graduated nurses who are fresh to the workforce experience an unfair rite of passage that amounts to bullying, risking both occupational health and patient safety, according to a February 6, 2019, post on the blog Nurse.org. Drawing on anecdotal evidence, the author says that more experienced charge nurses distribute the workload unfairly on new graduates, giving them not just more assignments, but the more difficult assignments as well.
