HHS Launches Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance Center

​As part of Human Trafficking Awareness month, the Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Office on Trafficking in Persons on January 17, 2017, announced the launch of its National Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance Center (NHTTAC). HHS said more than 30,000 potential cases of human trafficking in the United States have been reported since 2007 and victims will often have contact with healthcare providers, but not identify themselves as such. Survivors, as well as those at-risk of human trafficking need "coordinated and trauma-informed services before, during, and after their trafficking exploitation," HHS said.
