In a January 7, 2020, Urgent Medical Device Recall Field Safety Notice letter submitted by an ECRI Institute member hospital, Smiths states that the above syringes may have broken Luers. If the Luer breaks during blood sampling, the product would need to be replaced and may delay sampling; additionally, if the Luer breaks, blood spillage may occur that could potentially cause transmission of infectious agents.
