State Medicaid Agencies Prepare for RAC Implementation

In anticipation of state Medicaid agencies implementing Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) programs by the start of 2012, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued answers to more than 50 frequently asked questions (FAQs) about RACs. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) required that state agencies set up RACs by January 1, 2012 (see the September 21, 2011, HRC Alerts).
