When Doctors and Patients Disagree, Doctors’ Ratings May Suffer

​​​​Patients who request pain medication may be more dissatisfied when a provider refuses their request than a patient who requests an antibiotic, for a similar condition according to a study published in the November 2017 issue of JAMA Internal Medicine. ​Of the more than 1,300 visits made to a family physician included in the study, 68% featured at least one specific request made by the patient. Of those, 85% were granted by the physician.
