Hospital Evacuated for Hurricane Sandy Reopens for Inpatients

NYU Langone Medical Center, one of two New York City hospitals evacuated during Hurricane Sandy (see the November 7, 2012, HRC Alerts), began admitting inpatients for the first time since the storm hit shortly before the end of 2012, according to a December 27, 2012, Reuters article. Although the hospital is not fully recovered—its emergency department may take a full year to reopen—the hospital was anticipating seeing as many 50 patients on its first day and had surgery, intensive care, and neurology services running.
