Nurses and physicians caring for dementia patients demonstrated strong clinical knowledge but expressed a need for more information about a variety of topics, according to survey results published in the December 2014 Journal of Gerontological Nursing. The authors surveyed 39 clinical staff members of a hospital's inpatient geropsychiatry unit in August and September 2012 using a 27-item true/false questionnaire. Respondents answered an average of 24 questions correctly, indicating a high level of knowledge about dementia itself.
