The family of a Florida woman who died after being discharged from a hospital against her will is considering legal action against the hospital and the local police force, according to a December 23, 2015, Tallahassee Democrat article. A subsequent police report, discussed in a December 28, 2015, Tallahassee Democrat article, provides additional details on the incident. According to reports, the woman came to the 25-bed hospital late in the evening of December 20, complaining of abdominal pain. She was treated and discharged overnight, but refused to leave the hospital, stating that she still did not feel well. Hospital staff eventually called the police, who handcuffed the woman and took her to a patrol car, telling her that she could still seek treatment if she felt unwell but that she would have to do so at another facility.
