Fall: Suit Alleges Use of Unsafe Transfer Bench in Shower Causes Fall

A Louisiana court of appeals permitted a lawsuit by a patient who was injured in a hospital shower to proceed, reversing a lower court's order dismissing the suit on procedural grounds. The patient, a paraplegic, was scheduled to be discharged from the hospital on the morning of his injury and required a transfer bench to move from his wheelchair into a bed or shower.
