Wound Care Experts Identify Strategies to Prevent and Treat Pressure Ulcers

The International Expert Wound Care Advisory Panel has outlined preventive strategies that facilities may use and behavioral challenges that facilities face in strengthening their pressure ulcer prevention measures and provides resources for clinicians and institutional providers. The consensus paper (Armstrong et al.) appears in the October 2008 issue of Advances in Skin and Wound Care. The expert panel calls for physicians, nurses, certified nursing assistants, physical therapists, and nutritionists, as well as hospital reimbursement staff and administrators, to band together with the common goal of reducing the incidence of preventable pressure ulcers.
