A Healthcare Risk Control (HRC) System member recently asked about the types of adverse events patients could face during transfer of patients from one unit or building to a newly constructed unit or building. HRC has not written on this topic and, indeed, there does not appear to be a significant body of work documenting the effects of structural changes or additions to healthcare facilities and how they may affect the level of quality care a patient receives.
