A member recently asked how to address the issue of patients who have underlying health conditions that may contribute to violence when the organization has a zero-tolerance policy.
Several organizations advocate for a zero-tolerance approach to workplace violence. For example, in an overview on workplace violence, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) states that a zero-tolerance policy toward workplace violence is "one of the best protections employers can offer their workers."
