Mechanical Ventilation: Manufacturer-Specific Terminology for Ventilation Modes and Features

The terminology used for ventilation modes, monitored parameters, lung-recruitment tools, and device features can vary significantly from one manufacturer to the next. To help purchasers and clinicians compare ventilation modes from different manufacturers, we have classified each mode using a ventilation taxonomy developed by Robert Chatburn (see: Chatburn et al. 2014, Mireles-Cabodevila et al. 2013).
