The Mazor Renaissance Guidance System is a six-inch-tall orthopedic surgical robot used for spinal and brain surgeries. It guides the insertion of traditional orthopedic surgical tools using a positioning arm; the surgeon directly controls the tools. The system includes a computer console that is used preoperatively to plan the procedure. The plan is based on a 3-D virtual model of the anatomy of interest, created using CT images of the patient obtained before surgery.

Here's what the evidence says about this product's performance, along with a rundown on how it's used, what training is required, and any reported problems.
