Here are definitions of terms and concepts related to infusion pumps and associated technologies.
Administration set. Used to connect the drug supply and the patient. The flow in an administration set is controlled by the infusion pump or, if the set is outside the pump, by the roller clamp.
Air-in-line detector. A sensor in an infusion pump that detects any air bubbles present in the patient line. If air is detected, the pump will alarm and stop infusing.
