- The GlideScope AVL is a cart-based video laryngoscope with single-use blades that is used to support intubation by providing a clear, unobstructed view of the airway and vocal cords.
- The GlideScope AVL consists of the following:
- GlideScope video monitor
- Includes video laryngoscope display:
- Size: 16.3 cm (6.4 in), measured diagonally; display is oriented horizontally
- Resolution: 640 × 480 pixels

- Has internal battery which will power the display for up to 90 minutes
- Connects to mains power via power adapter and cable
- Connects to laryngoscope blade via video cable and batons
- Typically mounted on a cart or IV pole (see list of optional components below)

- USB output for recording of pictures and video clips to a connected USB drive
- Video monitor is reusable, has an ingress protection rating of IP54, and does not need to be disinfected between each patient. However, it should be cleaned on a regular basis and if visibly soiled.
- The GlideScope video monitor is also compatible with the GlideScope Titanium reusable blades as well as Spectrum Smart Cable and single-use blades. Note that the different types of cables and video batons are not interchangeable; each type of blade (Titanium, Spectrum, and GVL) requires a specific cable (or video baton).

- Video batons are reusable, have an ingress protection rating of IPX8, and should be subjected to low-level disinfection between each patient. They should be subjected to high-level disinfection or sterilization if visibly soiled.
- AVL video batons are not compatible with the GlideScope Ranger monitor.
