- The 3Dimensions provides 2-D, synthesized 2-D, and 3-D images of the breast for screening or diagnosis of breast cancer. In tomosynthesis (3-D) mode, the system generates a series of 2-D images through the breast.
- Supplementary uses of the system are diagnostic procedures and dual-energy imaging, as well as biopsy procedures, which must be performed under the supervision of medical professionals.

- The swivel range is -155° to +195°, with preselectable rotation angle; for biopsy and tomosynthesis, the rotation angle is -140° to +180°.
