- The Alaris Syringe Module is used with a point-of-care unit (PCU) to administer drugs or antibiotics from a syringe. The PCU can also be used with large-volume pump and patient-controlled analgesic (PCA) modules.

- Pump—Used to deliver intravenous infusion therapy through a consumable syringe and administration set
- Operational range:
- Flow rate: 0.01-999 mL/hr
- Volume to be infused (VTBI): 0.1-60 mL

- Infusion modes:
- Dose error reduction system (DERS) mode: Guardrails Drugs and Guardrails Fluids
- Non-DERS modes: i) Drug Calc—Used to program infusions with custom concentrations without drug library limits ii) Basic Infusion—Infusion mode without drug library limits
- Anesthesia mode i) Anesthesia mode makes it possible to have additional drugs in each care area that are only accessible when operating in anesthesia mode. A module can also be paused indefinitely without an alarm in this mode. ii) Anesthesia mode is not controlled with a passcode.

- Hardkeys and softkeys are used to configure parameters and settings.
- A numerical keypad is used for parameter entry.
