Used to create a short-term vascular access for the delivery of fluids, medications, and contrast media, as well as for blood sampling. The AccuCath Ace is a specialty-use short PIVC that includes a guide wire intended to aid with tortuous vein access. The catheter comes in either a basic tray or an intermediate tray that includes additional components.
Major components:
- Needle—used to access the vessel
- Catheter—a small flexible cannula that covers the needle (except for the tip) and, after insertion, remains in the arm
  - Available sizes
    - Gauges: 18-22 G
    - Lengths: 1.25-2.25 in
  - Pressure rating—power injection supported, at a maximum pressure of 300 psi
