  • One goal of this device is to detect respiratory depression in postoperative adult patients who are on parenteral or neuraxial opioids in medical-surgical and general care units; patients in these care areas are frequently receiving opioids via patient-controlled analgesic (PCA) pumps.
  • EtCO2 monitoring can also be used to ensure adequacy of ventilation during endoscopic and other procedural sedation procedures.
  • The monitor may be used wherever patients are receiving parenteral or neuraxial opioids:
