- The primary purpose of the Nexiva and Nexiva Diffusics is to create short-term vascular access for the delivery of fluids, medications, and contrast media, as well as for blood sampling. In addition, the Nexiva Diffusics may be preferred in radiology settings.

- Needle—used to access the vessel
- Catheter—a small flexible cannula that covers the needle (except for the tip) and, after insertion, remains in the arm (1) Nexiva
- Gauges: 18 to 24
- Lengths: 0.56 to 1.75 in
- Pressure rating i) 18 to 22 G: 300 psi
