Evaluation: Ascom Unite Connect Ancillary Alarm Notification System
December 22, 2016 | Evaluations & Guidance
The Ascom Unite solution is a good choice for most facilities looking for an enterprise ancillary alarm notification system. The system allows centralized display of all active alarms for a single unit, which can facilitate alarm triaging by monitor watchers and other relevant personnel. It also offers a very easy-to-use staff assignment application that can also be used to export the assignments to other hospital systems. Additionally, the system has the ability to allow users to proactively measure and track system performance using tools to trigger simulated messages.
The Unite Connect is used to alert appropriate clinical staff to the relevant clinical alarms via mobile communication devices in a timely manner.

Similarly, the vendor offers another appliance to connect to the facility's end-user communication platform (e.g., Cisco call manager, smartphone platforms). The appliance facilitates communication between the solution and the connected systems (e.g., medical devices and communication platforms) by translating any proprietary vendor protocols. It also handles the filtering and...
