CDC Releases Flu Toolkit for Long-Term Care, Pandemic Flu Tabletop Exercise
December 19, 2014 | Aging Services Risk, Quality, & Safety Guidance
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released a toolkit to help long-term care employers offer and promote vaccination for seasonal influenza to their employees. Tools and resources address the reasons personnel vaccination is important, vaccination coverage statistics, planning for vaccination, promotion and measurement of vaccination, and flu prevention and response. For example, resources for increasing vaccination coverage include a host of links to guidance, toolkits, campaign materials, and cultural and language resources. CDC has also released a discussion-based, tabletop exercise to help communities and their healthcare stakeholders test their patient surge plans in the event of a pandemic influenza event.
