With the world population of frail individuals expected to exceed 1.2 billion by 2025, aging services providers need a common definition of the syndrome and strategies to treat it, according to an article in the September 2013 Consultant360. Frailty involves multiple biological systems in an aging individual, characterized by multiple sets of symptoms, including weight loss, fatigue, weakness, low activity, slow motor performance, and balance and gait abnormalities.
