Characteristics of Adult Day Services Centers, Participants
September 26, 2014 | Aging Services Risk, Quality, & Safety Guidance
In 2012, more than one-half of adult day services centers provided skilled nursing, therapeutic, and social work services, while less than one-half provided mental health, pharmacy, and dental services, according to a September 2014 data brief from the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). About 60% of centers used a standardized tool to screen for cognitive impairment, and about 20% used a standardized tool to screen for depression. Almost all centers provided daily transportation to and from the center. Another data brief from NCHS found that more than one-third of adult day services participants were under age 65.
