Researchers have developed a tool for measuring physician involvement and communication, as perceived by directors of nursing (DONs), in nursing homes, as reported in a study in the 2015 September issue of JAMDA. Included as part of a larger survey for a broader study, the 10 questions addressed issues in three domains: medical staff attentiveness, physician communication, and staff concerns about physician practice. An overall summary score is derived, called the Effectiveness of Physician Accountability and Communication (EPAC).
