LeadingAge Issues Competency Guides for Personal Care Attendants, Midlevel Managers
September 11, 2015 | Aging Services Risk, Quality, & Safety Guidance
The Workforce Cabinet of LeadingAge has created two competency development guides for personal care attendants and midlevel managers, respectively, reports an article in the July-August 2015 issue of LeadingAge Magazine. The guides may be used by continuing care retirement communities, nursing homes, assisted-living communities, home health agencies, home- and community-based services, and affordable senior housing communities. Organizations can use the guides to tailor continuing education and provide on-the-job training, as well as to evaluate performance and coach or counsel. The four areas of competency in the guide for personal care attendants are technical skills, applied understanding, interpersonal skills, and self-directed care.
