The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) on September 1, 2016, updated its Technical Resources, Assistance Center, and Information Exchange (TRACIE) with numerous hurricane-related resources. The updates include resources for general natural disaster preparedness, which feature tools and lessons learned from floods and landslides, tsunamis, and hurricanes, as well as suggestions and information specifically for long-term care facilities. The 40-page hurricane resources PDF also offers tips to help healthcare organizations improve communication during natural disasters, such as making sure information is being shared on a regular basis through both traditional media outlets and social media.
