A Minnesota nursing home resident died two weeks after police officers used a Taser to subdue him, according to an August 22, 2013, Star Tribune article. Police had been called to the nursing home by staff when the resident, who did not speak English, was behaving erratically and wielding a knife. When police gestured for the man to put the knife down, he held it to his own throat, prompting the Taser use to prevent the man from harming himself.
