CMS Announces Savings Realized from Independence at Home Demonstration

​The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Independence at Home Demonstration succeeded in saving more than $25 million in its first year while providing higher-quality care to more than 8,400 chronically ill Medicare beneficiaries in their own homes, states a June 18, 2015, CMS press release. According to the press release, all 17 participating practices in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act–established payment model improved quality in at least three of the six quality measures for the first year of the demonstration, and 4 participating practices met all six quality measures.
