Mid-Year Work Plan Includes OIG Focus on Long-Term Care Initiatives

​The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Inspector General's (OIG) mid-year work plan includes eight new planned investigations regarding Medicare Parts A and B, many of which affect long-term care settings such as skilled nursing and community-based settings such as home care. The work plan, which updates the fiscal year plan published in November 2015 (see the November 20, 2015, Issues in Continuing Care Risk Management), details completed OIG reports that have been issued for the year, previously planned investigations that have been revised or eliminated, and new projects planned based on changing priorities throughout the year.
