​Advances in telemedicine have led to increased exposure to cybersecurity risks for healthcare organizations, according to a May 21, 2018, article from the Risk Management Monitor. Telemedicine has led to improvements in patient care by increasing access and convenience, but it has brought added risk for cyber attacks related to computer networks, web applications, and unpatched software. Hacking continues to be the most persistent threat for any healthcare organization, whether its providers use telemedicine or not, representing 59% of all data breaches in 2017, the article said.
