What's the news. The Illinois Association of Health Care Facilities, which represents about 100 nursing homes in the Chicago area, announced that union workers (i.e., certified nursing assistants and dietary, activity, laundry, and housekeeping employees) will receive base pay increases to $15 per hour (up to a 24% increase) by the second year of the contract, a $2 per hour hazard pay bonus during the COVID-19 pandemic, and fully paid sick leave for COVID-19 testing, illness, or quarantine.
