CMS Finalizes Quality Measures Added to “Nursing Home Compare” and Five-Star Ratings
May 6, 2016 | Aging Services Risk, Quality, & Safety Guidance
The six new quality measures proposed earlier this year to be added to Nursing Home Compare have been finalized, according to an April 27, 2016, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announcement. The new measures are unchanged from when they were proposed earlier this year (see the March 11, 2016, Issues in Continuing Care Risk Management). For short-stay patients, measures include the percentage who were successfully discharged to the community, had an outpatient emergency department (ED) visit, were rehospitalized within 30 days after a nursing home admission, or made improvements in function.
