How SNFs Lag Behind in MDRO Prevention and Response
February 27, 2015 | Aging Services Risk, Quality, & Safety Guidance
A study in the March 2015 issue of Infection Control and Hospital Epidemiology found "stark differences in human resources, knowledge, policy, and practice between acute and long-term care" in regard to multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs). Staff members familiar with the infection prevention and control policies and practices at 30 acute care facilities and 44 skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) in one urban region responded to a pilot survey developed by the researchers. The survey asked about staffing for, knowledge regarding, the perceived importance of, and response to MDROs.
