Health Devices Achievement Award

Honoring excellence in the field of health technology management
  

Is there an individual or team within your organization that deserves recognition for best practices in technology management and safety? ECRI Institute HDAA logo

It's never too early to start preparing your submission for the Health Devices Achievement Award, presented each year to a member healthcare organization to honor excellence in the field of health technology management. 
 
We are now accepting submissions for the 2014 Health Devices Achievement Award! Deadline for submissions:  Monday, June 2, 2014
 

The rules
This prestigious award goes to the individual or team that describes the most exceptional example of an initiative undertaken at their healthcare facility to improve patient safety, reduce costs, or otherwise facilitate better strategic management of health technology.

Applicants must represent a healthcare facility that is a current member of one of the following: Health Devices System, Health Devices Online, HDgold, or SELECTplus.

ECRI Institute may use content from the submissions in its publications, online services, and promotions.
 
Initiatives may relate to any health technology management endeavor, including the following:

  • Patient safety
  • Technology selection and service
  • Resource allocation
  • Hazard and recall management
  • Staff training
  • Accreditation                                                          

What we need
Applicants should submit a 1,500- to 2,000-word essay to ECRI Institute describing an initiative (or initiatives) undertaken at their facility that demonstrates excellence in the field of health technology management. Relevant details to provide include the following: 

  1. A description of the initiative
  2. The motivation behind the initiative
  3. The methodology used
  4. The impacts of the initiative, including outcomes and cost savings (as applicable).

Submissions should also include your institution's name; the name and title of a contact person for the submission, along with a phone number and e-mail address; and the department or departments that initiated the program.

How to submit your entry
Essays can be submitted to ECRI Institute by any of the following methods: 

How we choose the winner
Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of independent judges and by members of ECRI Institute’s staff. The winner will be announced later this year. Criteria for selection include the following:

  • Completeness
  • Clarity
  • Impact
  • Safety
  • Cost
  • Performance Improvement
  • Improved Delivery of Care
  • Innovation
  • Extensibility (to other institutions)

What past winners and other high-ranking submissions have typically included

  • Clearly identified problems or issues
  • Descriptions of how their solutions addressed the problems or issues
  • Evidence of improvement, e.g. measurements of performance before and after implementing the solution

What the winner receives

    • A plaque honoring the accomplishment(s)
    • Feature article on ECRI Institute's Health Devices member website
    • Recognition on the ECRI Institute public website
    • Publicity in ECRI Institute press announcements

In addition to honoring the award winner, ECRI Institute may also publicize submissions from the other award finalists through its publications, online services, and promotions.
