Catherine Pusey joined ECRI Institute in 2007. She has over 20 year's managerial experience, having served as a Chief Nursing Officer for an acute care facility, Chief Executive Officer for a long term acute care facility, and Director of Quality and Risk. Pusey's expertise includes patient safety, quality, risk, and compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation. Her onsite consulting has spanned acute care facilities and physician practices.
Gail M. Horvath, MSN, RN, CNOR, CRCST
Senior Patient Safety Analyst IV
Gail Horvath has over 30 years of experience in acute care, quality, risk and patient safety. Before coming to ECRI Institute, she was the perioperative educator for a level one trauma center performing over 13,000 surgical cases annually. Gail has also worked as the clinical director for perioperative services as well as a system manager for perioperative business services in a multi hospital system.
Director, Strategic Growth and Business Development
Robert Maliff has been assisting hospitals, healthcare systems, and international organizations with healthcare planning and patient safety issues for more than 25 years. He has worked internationally, with start-up technology companies, and with the U.S. Department of Defense's healthcare system. He is a member of the American College of Clinical Engineering and the Health Information and Management Systems Society.
Scott Lucas, PhD, PE
Director, Accident and Forensic Investigation
Scott Lucas has consulted in catastrophic events in the automotive, aerospace, maritime, and healthcare industries. He responds to critical healthcare incidents to help leadership determine causation and prevent recurrence. Lucas has leadership responsibility for his group and for planning and operations at ECRI Institute. Lucas publishes, lectures, and provides training on medical device accident investigation in domestic and international venues. Lucas has degrees in mechanical, biomedical, and biomechanical engineering, and is a licensed professional engineer.
