Original conference description:

The recent Ebola crisis sent shockwaves throughout the public and within healthcare facilities. With the potential for an Ebola outbreak in the United States still a possibility, preparedness is crucial. Good planning for Ebola can apply to future concerns with other high-risk infectious diseases.

With so much for hospitals to manage related to Ebola preparedness, efforts to manage the details of technology may get lost in the shuffle. Hospitals are left wondering if their equipment management processes, specifically for medical devices and personal protective equipment (PPE), are prepared for treating patients with Ebola.

Here's what hospitals are asking:

  • How have facilities who have treated Ebola patients addressed the medical device aspects of their preparedness efforts?
  • What unique medical device concerns should be considered when preparing for treating patients with Ebola?
  • What factors should we consider when selecting PPE to protect our patients and staff?
  • How prepared are other facilities in compared to mine?

Join ECRI Institute and other experts on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, for an overview of Ebola preparedness. "Ebola: Medical Device and Personal Protective Equipment Preparedness" is a 90-minute interactive web conference with dedicated Q&A time for participants to ask specific questions.

You and your team will learn:

  • What technology management hurdles a hospital faced when treating an Ebola patient
  • The unique medical device concerns involved with Ebola preparedness
  • Technology-related perspectives from simulation-based Ebola preparedness training
  • Findings from ECRI Institute's equipment readiness on Ebola survey

Moderator:

  • Jeremy Suggs, ScD, Engineering Manager, Health Devices, ECRI Institute

Speakers:

  • Chris Lavanchy, Engineering Director, Health Devices, ECRI Institute
