The Philadelphia area is warm and sometimes quite hot and humid in the summer (June, July, and August). Winter months—December, January, and February—are frequently cold and windy. Snow falls as early as November and as late as March. September, October, April, and May are generally mild and pleasant.

Local Transportation

ECRI Institute is in Plymouth Meeting, PA a suburb approximately 18.5 miles (30 kilometers) from downtown Philadelphia. Several hotels, restaurants, and shopping centers are within 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) of ECRI Institute. As there are no trains or buses within walking distance, a rented car is recommended for visits of more than a day.

The King of Prussia Mall (, one of the world’s largest shopping centers with 365 shops and 40 restaurants, is located approximately 9 miles from ECRI. The Plymouth Meeting Mall ( is just 2.5 miles and has 120 specialty stores between major dept stores, double-decker carousel, food court and many restaurants.

International Sponsoring Organizations

Various organizations sponsor visits to ECRI Institute, including the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), universities, ministries of health or industry, and the armed services and medical and testing institutions of many nations. Most countries have very specific procedures for obtaining United Nations (UN) agency or other fellowships, and visitors are advised to check the requirements of their home country.
